stuart weber: out of the wood concert 4/16/10
Stuart Weber photographed preforming at the Emerson Cultural Center with special guests The Meritage String Quartet. We provided a complement of equipment and mixed the sound for this event titled "out of the wood". The title of the event spurred the idea of designing a wood panel system to serve as the backdrop for the group. The panels did double duty adding an aesthetically pleasing modern looking, more importantly the wood panel system worked well to enhance and reinforce the sound of the "acoustic" quartet by creating a surface behind the players that defused (mixed) and reflected (pushed) the sound back toward the musicians, the sensitive microphones and the audience. Stuart remarked "how enjoyable it was being able to hear the other players while not relying as much on floor monitor speakers " which contribute to confusing and muddying the sound in the theater. Content musicians with a good "mix" of sound provides a more enjoyable experience for everyone.
